You might classify photographers into one of two buckets: those who casually enjoy taking pictures of anything that catches the eye and those who have a long-term passion about something and pick up a camera to record that passion. Those in the second category tend to be better than the first and Clark Little is definitely in the second category. He shoots what he loves and that passion is reflected in the quality of his work.
Clark grew up near the beach and has always had a passion for it. First as a swimmer and later a surfer. Years later, when his wife wanted to buy a picture of a breaking wave, he wandered down to his favorite spot and began photographing. He had spot the best part of his life there and knew its movements well.
“I just did what I love and it kinda happened,” he said recently. Since then, he has been interviewed multiple times on national media and drawn international attention.
He can easily spend six hours a day at the beach taking photos. At that level of time, he’s way past the casual beach comber with camera in hand. That is a serious commitment, although Clark doesn’t take himself too seriously. “It’s fun, dude,” he said.
He has had exhibitions in Japan, Brazil and throughout the US. His work has appearedd on CBS Evening News, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Inside Edition, Discovery Chanel, ABC World News Now, and NHK and Asahi TV programs in Japan.
Museums exhibits, awards and other recognition have followed, although it all started with one fundamental recognition: Clark had a passion and used photography to explore it. Let’s hope we can all find that passion before we pass on.
